Tony Kenck
President and Founder, Practical Portfolio Management Tony Kenck formed Practical Portfolio Management LLC in 2020 after a long career with Chevron and Texaco. He started his career as an earth scientist (Colorado School of Mines, BSc. Geophysical Engineering, '79) and found himself continually drawn to decision and risk analysis.

As a planning analyst in Chevron’s International Upstream, he saw room for improvement in the thought processes that created the company’s strategic plan and led the creation of tools still in use over twenty years later. While Manager of Planning and Portfolio in Chevron’s Corporate Business Development Department, he used those same tools to provide portfolio perspectives on a wide range of multi-billion-dollar investment opportunities, and trained hundreds of people in portfolio analysis and financial and economic decision metrics.
He recently released the book Strategic Business Portfolio Management; it is the guidebook he wishes he’d had in 2001 when he started his portfolio journey.
Tony is a Fellow of the Society of Decision Professionals (SDP) and the President of the Denver Chapter of the SDP. He and his wife, Kathleen, live in Golden, Colorado.
